In different parts of the World different models, that support such a progress, have been developed. However, some common denominators can be recognized in all of them:
- They contain some locally based cultural and social characteristics.
- They contain characteristics of organizational evolution (based on the drivers of value creation) and organizational relationships.
- They are constantly re-adjusting to the varying conditions in which they are implemented/used.
- They are based on an holistic/system approach.
The model for innovation infrastructure (I2) contains all the characteristics described above. Its structure is dynamic and sensitive and highly effective because:
1. There is no predefined sequence, or agenda for the implementation of each step in the model. The path is unique to each organization and it is a function of a collective consciousness in the organization, i.e., the level of the absorption competences.
2. The content of the I2 blocks can be adjusted to the dynamics of the environment where implemented, (taking into account the characteristic of business evolution, level of hierarchy, the dynamics of cooperation with external participants,) the type of relationship with markets, the idea generating practice; the book: “Ritmi poslovne evolucije”)
The model of innovation Infastructure (I2) for mass innovation has been selected among the top 55 Slovenian innovations for the year 2011, based on the public call by JAPTI (Public Agency of slovenia for Enterprenership and foreign investment). The author of the model is Violeta Bulc. Yet, if you ask her, she has just successfully connected many threads of the slovenian business and social ecosystems, and addresses a sincere need of organizations. She hopes that the solution will help many, in the value creation process. »Thank you very much to our customers, who make it possible to manifest the I2 in practice (BTC, PETROL, Elektro Maribor, LEK), thank you to InCo movement, which has been challanging me with its development, results, opportunities, thank you to my collegues who co-created the moment and space where we can see more and deeper in the name of an individual, organization, society and a planet, a a whole«, says Violeta.
The breakthrough of the model is latent within the horizontal structure, and the system approach to mass innovation. In addition, to establish mass innovation, an organization needs to establish credibility of the system, transparency of the results and intermediate steps, responsiveness of the people in charge, as well as the model itself.
Innovation Infrastructure (I2):A special challenge for successful implementation of the I2, is the absorption level (sensitivity to external information, successful internal follow-up implementation, and the level of re-adjustments) on all strata of the company, including the management. Therefore we recommend that the implementation of I2 be incremental, using participation techniques at all phases, e.g., a critical mass of people be included in the definition and implementation of the I2 model.
The need: For an approach that can respond to the current challanges in a dynamic, timely and sustainable manner throughout the organization/community/state.
The value that it creates: Aim orientated innovation propositions on all levels of organization/community/state and within all organizational structures, that create value (economical or socialy responsible one).
Elements: 7 steps, 7 enablers, 15 blocks, 4 products, 3 (business) benefits
I2 mode, was choosen among the top 50 Slovenian innovation for the year 2011 and presented on the Slovenian Forum on Innovation in Ljubljana on November 22. in 23. 2011. Maybe, together, we can find a fresh solution to your challanges on mass innovation at your organization. Get in touch with us;We also recommend, a constant change of the use of different tools to encourage creativity and innovation. Experiences are showing that people often get bored quickly, and that the level of their participation decreases faster with repetitive use of the same predictable tools.

I really hope, that a bit more provocative thought about mass innovation has brought you some interesting thoughts. I also hope that we are even more connected and ready to co-create together, or can at least inform each other about the progress made, and that we can all continue on a richer level of consciousness.
Lots of goodness and prosperity, Violeta
